Les Courtilles Cotes du Rhone 2011

Grenache from France - Rhone
Review Date : 20-Aug-2013
A blend of 70% Grenache, 27% Syrah, 2% Mourvedre and 1% Carignan, fruit from 35 y.o. vines, fermented to 14.5% alc., with 20% aged in barrel. Very full, dark, black-hued purple-red colour, youthful in appearance. The bouquet is harmoniously integrated with subtle aromas of dark raspberries, red florals, earth and pepper, the aromatics a little restrained at present. Medium-bodied, refined, sweet, dark raspberry fruit is entwined with detailed facets of earth, game and peppery nuances. Quite primary in expression with juiciness and sweetness to the mouthfeel, the palate is underlined by a fine-grained tannin line that carries the fruit to an elegant and sustained finish. This is an elegant Cotes du Rhone with sweet and vibrant fruitiness and fine mouthfeel. Match with poultry and pork over the next 4-5 years. 17.5/20 Aug 2013 RRP $24.99
