Leonardo Chianti Riserva DOCG 2012

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 15-Dec-2015
85% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot and 5% other red varieties from Vinci and surrounding areas, fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in French oak. Full, even, black-hued red with garnet hues on the rim. The bouquet is full and finely presented with aromas of ripe red and black cherry fruit melded with plums, earth, dried herbs and a touch of tar. Oak cedar, vanilla and toast nuances emerge adding complexity. Medium-bodied, soft and succulent flavours of ripe black and dark red berry fruits are entwined with plum, earth, tar and cedary oak forming a sweet and juicy core. The palate is harmoniously balanced with light grainy tannin extraction and integrated acidity. The fruit sweetness is lifted by the acidity and carries with good tension and energy to a soft, dry, plum, cedar and earthy flavoured finish. This is a sweet, juicy, black-fruited Chianti with some oak notes and a balanced structure. Match with grilled and roasted red meat dishes over the next 3-4 years. 17.5-/20 Dec 2015 RRP $27.99
