Le Miccine Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2008

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 23-Jul-2014
Deepish garnet red colour with a black-hued heart and lighter garnet on rim. The bouquet is softly concentrated with aromas of savoury, dark red cherry fruit with lifted floral and dried herbal interest, intermixed with earthy and leathery notes. Medium-full bodied, firmly concentrated, up-front and bold flavours of black cherry fruit are entwined with secondary leather and earth notes. The mouthfeel features dry, grainy tannin extraction and structure, forming a tough, sinewy texture. The acidity adds to the firmness of palate line, and carries the flavours of bitter cherries to a light, dry, textured finish. This is a full, densely concentrated Chianti with leathery black cherry flavours and a sinewy, dry mouthfeel. Match with roasted beef and venison, and with hard cheeses over the next 4+ years. 100% Sangiovese from Gaiole, hand-picked and fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 18 months in French oak barriques and large casks. 250 dozen made. 17.0/20 Jul 2014 RRP $32.50
