95% Grenache from vines 40-58 y.o. in ‘Les Bedines', and 5% Mourvedre, Vaccarese and Cinsault, fermented to 15.0% alc., the wine spending 28 days on skins and aged 17 months in large old oak. Certified AB organic. Very dark, very deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, near-saturated, with a youthful purple rim. The nose is very full in volume with ethereal dark raspberry Grenache fruit, building in depth and revealing layers with red florals, boysenberry jam and savoury minerals. Full-bodied, this is open and lush with ripe raspberry, sweet and savoury jam flavours, and attractive earth and mineral detail unfolding. The wine is mouthfilling with soft rounded textures and underlying tannin line that becomes more prominent. The texture, acidity and alcohol show with firmness on the back palate and finish where ripe raspberry fruit flavours bloom. 1050 dozen made. This is an openly fruity and rich Chateauneuf-du-Pape with plenty of power and fine tannin grip. Serve with grilled and roasted red meat dishes. 18.5-/20 Sep 2012 RRP $104.99
