Le Clos du Caillou ‘Bouquet des Garrigues’ Cotes du Rhone 2010

Grenache from France - Rhone
Review Date : 04-Apr-2013
85% Grenache, 10% Syrah, and 5% Carignan, Mourvedre and Cinsault, from ‘Le Coudoulet' and ‘Les Garrigues' sites, from vines mainly over 50 y.o., fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine on skins 24-31 days, and aged 16 months in seasoned large oak. Certified AB organic. Bright, deep, dark ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues. Full, even aromas of ripe black fruits are complexed by fragrant florals, and hints of funky game and meat, the nose showing density and depth. Medium-full-bodied, rich, lush and juicy dark raspberry and black berry fruit flavours and full, grainy tannins form an up-front and bold, mouthfilling wine. The sweet ripeness is enhanced by lively acidity, and the flavours are carried to a fruity, textured finish with good length. This is a full and robustly fruit Cotes du Rhone to serve with casseroles and hearty red meat dishes over the next 4-6 years. 3,750 dozen made. 18.0-/20 Sep 2012 RRP $54.99
