Le Chat Noir Vallee de L’Aude Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from France - Other
Review Date : 23-Oct-2013
Moderately deep ruby-red colour with a dark heart, lighter on edge. The bouquet is gentle and full with deep aromas of lifted dark raspberry fruits and subtly interwoven confectionary, earth and herbal notes, revealing some liquorice and pepper in the glass. Medium-bodied, soft, juicy and accessible flavours of raspberry and whole berry jam and confectionary flavours feature on the palate. The fruit liveliness is enhanced by bright acidity, and carried by a fine, sinewy tannin line. A soft and open mouthfeel allows the flavours to flow easily to a mellow, fleshy finish. This is a soft, juicy and accessible Pinot Noir with up-front raspberry and jam flavours. Serve with pasta, poultry and Mediterranean fare over the next 3+ years. 100% Pinot Noir from ‘Domaine de Treille’ and ‘Domaine de Martinolles’ in the Aude Valley from 20 y.o. vines, destemmed and fermented with one-third undergoing carbonic maceration to 13.5% alc., one-third of the wine aged 6 months in French oak. 17.5-/20 Oct 2013 RRP $24.99
