Le Chat Noir Haut Vallee de L’Aude Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from France - Other
Review Date : 02-Sep-2013
Moderately deep ruby-red colour with a black heart, lighter on rim. This has a taut and restrained bouquet showing dark red berry and black cherry fruit intermingling with mineral, earth and dark spice notes. Medium-bodied, up-front, rich, juicy and concentrated flavours of black cherries and savoury black berry jam combine with minerals and earth, and are the feature. The palate richness is balanced by firm grainy tannins that provide a textured, near robust mouthfeel, and bright, fresh acidity that carries through to a bright, lively, textural finish. A little shy on nose, this Pinot Noir has juicy flavours of black cherries and a fresh mouthfeel. Match with most red meat courses over the next 3-4 years. 100% Pinot Noir from 20 y.o. vines from the ‘Domaine de Treille’ and ‘Domaine de Martinolles’ vineyards in the Aude Valley, south of Carcassonne. The fruit is fully destemmed with one-third undergoing carbonic maceration and fermented to 13.5% alc., and one-third aged 6 months in French oak 17.0+/20 Sep 2013 RRP $25.00
