Laurent-Perrier ‘Brut L-P’ Champagne NV

Sparkling Wine from France - Champagne
Review Date : 06-Dec-2012
Approx. 50% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 15% Pinot Meunier, blended from over 55 crus, averaging 94%, with 20% reserve wine, aged a minimum of 3 years. Straw-yellow colour with some depth, pale on edge. The bubbles are very small and persistent. The nose is rich white and yellow stonefruits, quite up-front with layers of toast and bready autolysis, opening to become accessible and gently voluminous. Dry to taste, this is up-front and approachably soft and rich with an attractive balance of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir fruit showing, with subtle toast and aldehyde elements. The palate is completed by balanced, integral bread and yeast autolysis. This has fine, smooth textures and the effervescence is refined, but lively. Some dosage sweetness becomes apparent on the finish. This is a fine, elegant and accessible Champagne with attractive balance, now beginning to show some development interest. Drink over the next 2+ years. 18.5-/20 Dec 2012 Approx. 50% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 15% Pinot Meunier, blended from over 55 crus, averaging 94%, with 20% reserve wine, aged a minimum of 3 years. Pale lemon-straw yellow colour with green hues. Fine and persistent bead. This is fresh and cool with fine lifted white florals and a steely edge, showing beautiful purity, the bready autolysis quite subtle in support. Off-dry to taste, the dosage peeking through, this has great beauty and purity with its delicacy and freshness. The palate is one of refreshing clarity and the acidity is razor-sharp, but very fine. Gentle richness and dosage sweetness emerges adding weight to the mid-palate, and the autolysis remains in the background. Finishes on white florals and citrus fruits, expressing Chardonnay, quite thirst-quenching. A classically refined aperitif Champagne. 18.5-/20 Nov 2012 RRP $110.00
