Clones 115, 667, 777 and Abel hand-picked and destemmed, given a cold soak and indigenous yeast fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 25% new French oak. Moderately deep, dark ruby-red colour with light purple hues, youthful in appearance. The bouquet is elegantly proportioned with aromas of dark raspberry fruit with lifted floral perfumes, liquorice and spice elements, building to show a deep core. Medium-full bodied, attractively pure fruit flavours of dark raspberry and cherry fruits intermingle with liquorice notes. The fruit is primary in expression with sweetness and ripeness, and supported by subtle oak spicing and lift. The mouthfeel is refined with fine-grained tannins at the heart, and good acidity enhancing the fruit liveliness. The wine carries through to a long and sustained finish with fine textures and liquorice notes. This is a classical Bendigo Pinot Noir, still youthful and elegant, with raspberry and liquorice flavours and fine extraction.
