Lamont Bendigo Central Otago Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 01-Feb-2015
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour, pale on rim. The nose is fresh with intense and finely concentrated aromas of white and yellow stonefruits that unfold subtle layers of honeysuckle, flinty lees, and a floral lift adding rich detail. Dry to taste, lusciously honied stonefruit and pear flavours form a fine amalgam with flinty elements and exotic florals. The mouthfeel is poised with crisp, refreshing acidity countering the fruit sweetness, and soft textures that form a weighty core. This has real line and drive, and the flavours carry through to a long, clean finish with flint and honied nuances. This dry Pinot Gris has an excellent balance of richness, texture and freshness. Serve with first courses and with most Asian cuisine over the next 3-4+ years. Fruit from the ‘Lamont’ vineyard at Bendigo, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 14.5% alc. and 6.6 g/l rs, the wine aged 3 months on lees. 18.5/20 Jul 2013 RRP $27.99
