Lake Hayes Central Otago Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 20-May-2013
Clone 5, 6, 115, 667 and 777 from the Amisfield ‘Pisa’ vineyard and Wanaka sub-regions, destemmed, given a cold soak and fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged with a portion kept out of oak. Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with carmine and purple hues on rim. The bouquet is full and up-front with aromas of ripe, dark raspberry and dark cherry fruits, lifted with floral and confectionary nuances from whole berries, underlined by a thread of fresh herbs. Medium-full bodied, juicy and lush flavours of bright dark raspberry fruit and dark plums laced with dark herbs form an up-front and packed palate. This is mouthfilling with supple tannins allowing accessibility. There is fresh acidity in support providing discreet lively, laciness carrying the flavours through to a sustained, fruit-driven finish. This is an up-front, direct, fresh-fruited Pinot Noir with juicy raspberry flavours. Match with antipasto, poultry and pork dishes over the next 4+ years. 18.0-/20 May 2013 RRP $30.00
