Lake Hayes Central Otago Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 23-Aug-2013
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues and a pale rim. The nose is light with fresh white stonefruit aromas along with minerals, steel, musky florals and lifted fermentation esters. Dry to taste, gentle and straightforward musky floral and stonefruit flavours form a soft-textured, smooth palate. The flavours are freshly presented with a clean simplicity and the acidity is restrained, adding to the roundness to the mouthfeel. The fruit fades gently, and the wine finishes with light aromatic nuances and some acid crispness. This is a light, clean, gently musky and uncomplicated, dry Pinot Gris. Serve as an aperitif, or with Asian fare over the next 2 years. 5 clones from Amisfield Blocks 4, 8 and 10, cool-fermented in tank to 12.7% alc. and 8.2 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees for 4 months. 16.0+/20 Aug 2013 RRP $20.00
