Lake Chalice ‘The Nest’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 27-Mar-2017
Bright, very pale straw colour, lighter on the rim. The nose is very fresh and tightly bound with restrained, cooler-spectrum aromas of gooseberries entwines with fresh herbs, nettles and subtle mineral nuances. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has a light, concentrated core of gooseberries and nettles, along with fresh herb notes. The fruit and mouthfeel is enlivened by bright, thirst-quenching acidity, and the wine flows along a light-textured phenolic line, leading to a crisp, tight finish of nettles and blackcurrant leaf. This is a light-fruited, tightly bound Sauvignon Blanc with lively flavours of gooseberries, nettles and herbs on a zesty palate. Serve with shellfish and Pacific Rim fare over the next 2 years. Fruit from the central Wairau Valley, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 4 g/L RS. 16.5/20 Mar 2017 RRP $17.99
