Lake Chalice ‘Sweet Beak’ Marlborough Late Harvest Riesling 2010

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 25-May-2017
Bright golden –yellow with some depth, lighter on the edge. This has a firm and well-concentrated and intense nose with a complex aromatic amalgam of wild honey, savoury marmalade, citrus and toasty notes, melded with earthy and minerally secondary development nuances. Sweet to taste and light-bodied, the palate has gently concentrated, complex flavours of citrus fruit and wild honey, beeswax, and savoury orange marmalade, unveiling toasty, earthy and minerally layers. The mouthfeel is lively and refreshing with bright, lacy acidity, and the wine flows along a light, textural line leading to an off-dry, but rich-flavoured finish. This is a gently-concentrated, sweet, Late Harvest Riesling with complex fruit, botrytis and secondary development flavours on a fresh, fine-textured palate. Match with fruit desserts and light, baked desserts over the next 2+ years. Late-picked fruit with botrytis infection from a single site in the Rapaura district, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 10.5% alc., 82 g/L RS, TA 6.3 g/L and pH 3.49. (375 ml) 17.5/20 May 2017 RRP $19.99
