Lake Chalice Plume Pinot Noir 2017, Marlborough

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 26-May-2023
Deep ruby-red, lighter on the rim with a garnet hue. This has an attractively fragrant bouquet with penetrating aromas of red cherry, dried cranberry, dried raspberry, desiccated rose, mushroom and undergrowth. Medium-light bodied, scents of cherry, dried cranberry and raspberry intertwined with dried hibiscus and rose petals, unfolding cinnamon, mushroom and forest undergrowth. The mouthfeel is silky and integrated with supple tannin and lacy acidity. Spices linger and grow in presence, carrying a smooth, enticing, fragranced finish. This developed Pinot Noir is presented with grace, alluring floral details, a silky mouthfeel, and a lingering finish. Match with roasted pigeon and duck over the next 3-5 years. Fruit from Eyrie Vineyard, Southern Valleys, handpicked, clone 667 and 114 with some whole bunches, 13.5% alc, aged in mostly old French and a touch of new oak. Unfined, unfiltered. 19/20 pts (95 pts) May 2023 RRP $49.99
