La Vieille Ferme Ventoux 2013

Grenache from France - Rhone
Review Date : 16-Sep-2014
Full, dark ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues. The nose is soft and full with moderately deep aromas of ripe dark raspberry fruit with jam and lifted whole berry fermentation notes, along with nuances of savoury herbs, pepper and minerals. Medium-bodied, full, lusciously accessible and juicy, primary fruit flavours of raspberries, jam, confectionary and red florals are the feature on palate. This is up-front and plush. The fruit is supported by grainy textures the tannins showing a little rusticity, and bright lively acid lending good energy. The tannins grow in presence, leading to a dry, confectionary-nuanced finish. This is an up-front, juicy-fruited Ventoux with some grip and lively mouthfeel. Match with tapas and barbecued fare over the next 2-3 years. Grenache, Syrah, Carignan and Cinsault from Ventoux fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in vat and large oak barrels. 17.0+/20 Sep 2014 RRP $22.99
