La Vendetta Toscana IGT Sangiovese 2012

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 17-Dec-2014
86% Sangiovese, 8% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon from Cerreto Guidi, hand-picked and fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine partially aged 6 months in seasoned French oak. Winemaker: Lorenzo Schiavani. Dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour with slight garnet hues on rim. This has a softly packed, elegantly proportioned nose of dark cherries integrated with earth and leathery elements and hints of funky game. Medium-full bodied, this has a soft, deep core of savoury, dark cherry fruit harmoniously melded with earth, game and leather. The fruit is supported by good tannin structure, providing a dry-textured mouthfeel. This has a good core and line, carrying through to a light, dry and softly-textured finish. This is a soft and harmonious Sangiovese with savoury cherry, earth and leather flavours and a dry structured mouthfeel. Match with slow-cooked red meats and hard cheeses over the next 3-4 years. 16.5+/20 Dec 2014 RRP $24.00
