La Vendetta Toscana IGT Sangiovese 2011

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 20-Aug-2013
86% Sangiovese, 8% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon from Cerreto Guidi, hand-picked and fermented to 12.5% alc., with a portion of the wine aged 6 months in seasoned French oak. Very full, dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour with some purple hues. The nose is tightly bound with restrained aromas of softly ripe black berry and cherry fruit underlined by mineral, tar and earthy elements. Medium-bodied and elegant in proportion, concentrated flavours of sweet, black cherries intermingle with subtle earth and mineral notes. The mouthfeel is lively with good acidity enhancing the fruit freshness. Fine tannin extraction grows and leads to a tight, dry textured finish, with crisp acidity carrying the length. This is an elegant Tuscan Sangiovese with concentrated black cherry and minerally flavours and a fine tannic line. Serve with Mediterranean fare over the next 4-5+ years. 17.5-/20 Aug 2013 RRP $23.99
