La Vendetta ‘La Fiamma’ Toscana Sangiovese IGT 2015

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 27-Sep-2016
Even ruby-red colour with some depth, a little lighter on the rim. This has an elegantly presented, light nose with clear and uncomplicated aromas of dark-red cherry fruit harmoniously entwined with subtle notes of herbs. Medium-bodied, the palate features sweet and succulent flavours of red cherries with raspberry jam whole berry fermentation elements. The mouthfeel is juicy and the fruit is supported by light, grainy tannins. As the wine floes, notes of red liquorice and spice unfold to provide interest and detail. Light, lacy acidity enlivens and enriches the fruitiness. The wine carries to a sustained, dry-textured finish with cherry and raspberry nuances. This is a sweet and juicy-fruited Tuscan Sangiovese with cherry and raspberry fruit, light extraction and a fresh mouthfeel. Match with pasta, pizza and antipasto over the next 2-3 years. 86% Sangiovese, 8% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon from Cerreto Guidi, vines 15 y.o., hand-picked and fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 6 months in tank and seasoned French oak barrels, with a further 3 months in tank. Winemaker: Andrea Sartori. 17.0/20 Sep 2016 RRP $25.00
