La Ronciere ‘Mousai’ Colchagua Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile
Review Date : 08-Mar-2012
Hand-picked fruit from the Colchagua Valley, fermented to 13.5% alc., 50% of the wine aged 12 months in French oak barrels. Very full, dark, impenetrable black-red colour with youthful purple hues, this features a fine, intense and moderately ripe nose of savoury blackcurrant fruit, complexed by notes of tobacco, cedar and herbs in an elegant amalgam. Medium-bodied, this has pure, finely expressed blackcurrant fruit flavours interwoven with notes of savoury herbs and floral lifted elements. The fruit is in the cooler spectrum, but the palate is well-structured with fine-grained tannins and slightly elevated levels of acidity. A fine-textured, long finish completes the wine. A fine-featured, elegant, cool-climate Cabernet Sauvignon, this will be a match with roast lamb over the next 4-5+ years. 16.5/20 Mar 2012 RRP $24.00
