La Crema Monterey Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from USA
Review Date : 17-Mar-2018
Ruby-red colour with slight garnet hues and some depth, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is fragrant with lifted aromas of raspberry fruit intermixed with dark-red florals and subtle nuances of dark herbs, unfolding raspberry liqueur elements. Medium-full bodied, the palate has a rounded and deep heart of sweetly ripe dark raspberry and black cherry fruit, along with subtle notes of dark herbs and nuances of nutty oak with raspberry liqueur elements. The fruit sweetness is balanced by fine, supple, light tannin extraction, with soft, integrated acidity. The wine flows smoothly along a velvety line leading to a lingering finish revealing some bitter cherry notes. This is a rounded, gently sweet, ripe Pinot Noir with dark raspberry, cherry, herb and liqueur flavours on a smooth palate. Match with duck and pork, and with Mediterranean fare over the next 4+ years. Monterey fruit fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 9 months in 23% new French oak. 18.0/20 Mar 2018 RRP $45.00
