Bright, medium straw-yellow with a gold hue, lighter on the rim. The nose is open with elegance, soft aromas of stonefruit melded with vanilla, barrel spices and a touch of cream. Medium-full bodied, aromas of peaches, nectarines interweave caramel popcorn, butterscotch, vanilla biscuit and barrel spices. The oak elements are well-proportioned, adding richness in flavour; bright acidity balanced the richness, flow effortlessly, lends a lifted, mineral finish. This is an elegant Californian Chardonnay with flavours of stonefruit, caramel popcorns, barrel spice details on a balanced, smooth-flowing palate. Match with tiger prawns and chicken with light cream sauce over the next 3-5 years. 100% Chardonnay from Monterey, gently-pressed, 24 hours settle then racked to a mix of French and American oak barrels, and 11% racked to stainless for fermentation, fermented to 13.5% alc. Lee stirred monthly, aged for 6 and a half months in 89% primarily French oak, 16% new oak. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Feb 2021 RRP $40
