La Crema Monterey Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from USA
Review Date : 15-Apr-2016
Moderately deep, light golden colour, pale on the rim. The nose is firm and well-concentrated with aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits and citrus fruits melded with nutty and toasty oak, subtle flinty complexities and nuances of lemon-curd MLF. The aromatics blossom in the glass. Medium-bodied, the palate features a tight and strong heart of ripe yellow stonefruits and citrus fruits, along with creamy and nutty barrel-ferment notes, entwined with lemon-curd MLF. Flinty detail and toasty oak elements unfold, providing interest. The wine has a fine-textured line with fresh, balanced acidity that carries to a light, lingering, tightly bound finish. This is a well-concentrated Chardonnay with complexing creamy, lemon-curd and flinty notes. Match with roasted poultry and pork dishes over the next 4 years. Chardonnay fruit from Monterey, fermented primarily in barrel with a small portion in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 5 months in mainly French oak, 15% new, the wine undergoing batonnage and full MLF. 17.5/20 Apr 2016 RRP $40.00
