La Consulta ‘Reserva’ Uco Valley Mendoza Malbec 2010

Malbec from Argentina
Review Date : 15-Sep-2011
Dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, very youthful in appearance. This has a fresh, elegant, but intense nose of dark red berry fruits, aromatic redcurrants and herbs. Full-bodied, this has depth and intensity of fresh, juicy sweet red berry fruit flavours, herb notes and resin nuanced oak, underscored by steely acidity and moderately extracted, grainy textured tannins. A fresh, racy and vibrantly fruity wine, the herbal notes feature and the wine finishes quite dry. 100% estate-grown Malbec from San Carlos, Uco Valley in Mendoza, given a cold soak and fermented to 13.5% alc., 50% of the wine aged 6-9 months in equal portions of French and American oak. Match with pizza, pasta and barbecued red meats over the next 4-5+ years. 16.5-/20 Sep 2011 RRP $22.00
