La Consulta ‘Reserva’ Uco Valley Malbec 2012

Malbec from Argentina
Review Date : 10-Jul-2014
Hand-picked fruit from the Uco Valley, fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine spending 18 days on skins, with 60% of the wine aged 8 months in French and American oak. Dark, deep ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, lighter on edge. Clean, bright, straightforward aromas of ripe black and red berry fruits are enhanced by subtle spice and dark herb notes. The nose is up-front, showing good depth. Medium-full bodied, fresh, juicy and mouthfilling primary fruit flavours of red plums and berries are intermixed with herbal elements. The palate has good vinosity, with a soft tannin framework and underlying alcoholic drive that carries the wine to a light, sweet fruited finish. This is an up-front, uncomplicated, juicy and vinous Malbec with red plum and berry flavours. Serve with pasta, pizza and barbecued fare over the next 3+ years. 16.5+/20 Jul 2014 RRP $20.00
