100% Malbec from the company's vineyards in San Carlos in the Uco Valley, given a cold soak and fermented to 13.5% alc. 70% of the wine was aged in oak for 12 months, the oak being 70% French and 30% American. Very full, dark, purple-ruby colour, the bouquet is soft, full and lifted with near ethereal layers of spicy dark red berry fruits, herbs and oak, quite gentle in expression. Full-bodied, this is youthful and quite primary on palate with ripe dark boysenberry fruits, subtle herb nuances, and interwoven spicy oak. The acidity is fine and provides the wine with an elegant proportion, and fine-grained tannins result in a supple mouthfeel. The finish is sustained with rich, dark red fruit jam notes. A young and fine-textured wine with ripe, sweet fruit, this will match roasted red meats over the next 7-10 years. 17.5+/20 Sep 2011 RRP $28.00
