La Bella Rosa Pinot Noir 2020, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 08-Jun-2023
Moderately deep crimson, lighter on the rim. This bouquet is fragranced with savoury details and power, unfolding an amalgam of spice, dark herb, flint, dried mushroom, underlying cherry and tamarillo. Medium-bodied, dark cherry and tamarillo aromas melded with mushroom and earth, unveiling nutmeg, black pepper and dried thyme. Undergrowth nuance is growing as it aerated, intertwined with black tea fragrance. The mouthfeel is creamy, with velvety tannins lightly coating the palate, slightly chewy in texture. The fruit is concentrated, with a sweet and savoury balance; a bitter layer allures and lacy acidity lends a refined, long finish. This enticing Pinot Noir shows power and beauty with concentration, spice depth, and savoury details. Match with lamb rack and mushroom risotto over the next 8 years. Handpicked fruit from Mt Rosa Lodge in Gibbston, clone 777, 13.5% alc. 19/20 pts (95 pts) Jun 2023 RRP $99
