Kurow Village ‘Penny Red’ Otago 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 16-Mar-2016
Even, dark ruby-red colour, lighter on the rim. The nose is softly concentrated with moderately deep aromas of dark red berry and cherry fruit intermingling with earthy and minerally reductive notes, unfolding nuances of fresh and dried herbs. The aromatics are restrained in expression. Medium-bodied, the palate possesses soft flavours of red cherry and berry fruit entwined with herbal elements and minerally reductive notes. The mouthfeel is rounded with supple tannin extraction and gently driven by mild acidity. The wine carries to a soft fnish of red cherries, red liquorice and herbs. This is a soft, restrained Pinot Noir with flavours of red fruits, herbs, liquorice and minerally reductive elements. Match with pasta, pizza and grilled red meats over the next 3+ years. 100% Pinot Noir from Alexandra, fermented to 13.9% alc., the wine aged 12 months in French oak. 16.0-/20 Mar 2016 RRP $29.00
