Krug Champagne 2000

Sparkling Wine from France - Champagne
Review Date : 04-Dec-2012
42% Pinot Noir, 43% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Meunier. Full, even, light straw-yellow colour with some green hues, moderately persitent bubble. The nose is Chardonnay expressive initially, with very finely concentrated and intense aromas of ethereal white florals, honeysuckle and bright citrus fruits. In the glass, subtle autolytic complexities of bread, yeast and nuts emerge, and Pinot yellow stonefruit aromas build with depth and concentration. Dry to taste, complex layers of intertwined flavours of white florals, savoury yellow fruits, yeast and toast form a rich and textured line. The palate flows with growing fleshiness, depth and presence, while retaining incredible finesse and refinement. The acid balance is near perfect, and the wine exudes freshness and vitality, and is superb balance with the subtle dosage on the long and sustained finish. This is a superb, multi-faceted and layered Champagne that grows in stature in the glass. It will develop even greater complexity over the next decade. 19.5+/20 Nov 2012 RRP $550.00
