Konrad Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2011

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 19-Mar-2012
Bright, clear, pale straw colour with light green hues, near colourless on edge. The bouquet is moderately full with some breadth and volume, showing gooseberry fruit with flinty lees and reductive elements. Dry, this has soft English gooseberry flavours with the reduction somewhat masking the fruit. The palate has weight with soft textures and balanced acidity contributing to a lusciousness. The wine finishes with a gentle, dry crispness. Fruit from the Waihopi and Wairau Valley family estates, cool-fermented with 3% in French oak to 11.7% alc. and 4.4 g/L rs, the wine was aged on lees 3 months. This is a soft and moderately weighted Sauvignon Blanc that has a little reduction muting the fruit at present. Give the wine some breathing or 6 months in bottle. Then serve over the next 2 years with creamy pasta or poultry dishes. 16.0+/20 Mar 2012 RRP $19.65
