Konrad Marlborough Gruner Veltliner 2011

Gruner Veltliner from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 07-Feb-2013
Fruit from the ‘Landfall' vineyard in the Waihopi, hand-picked and WBP, stainless-steel fermented with a portion in old French oak to 13.5% alc. and 9 g/L rs, the wine aged on lees 3 months. Very pale straw, near colourless. The nose is very light, soft and subtle with slightly savoury white stonefruit aromas, in the cooler spectrum with herbal notes and leesy, nutty elements. Dryish to taste, the flavours are a little meagre, the fruit interaction with the acidity resulting in a ‘sweet and sour' element. The mouthfeel is in good balance, a little richness developing from the sugar, but fresh and crisp with proper drive and linearity, and a clean dry finish. 16.0-/20 Feb 2013
