Kingsmill ‘Tippet’s Race’ Central Otago Riesling 2009

Riesling from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 05-Mar-2012
Fruit from a single north-facing Bendigo hillside vineyard, hand-picked and WBP and fermented under 15°C to 13.0% alc. and <2.0 g/L rs. Wine made by Malcolm Rees-Francis. Bright, very pale straw-green colour, pale on rim. This has a very fine, softly presented nose of lime fruit and secondary toast notes, with some minerals, all with delicacy. Dry, this is tightly bound with intense and cutting flavours of lime juice and toast interwoven forming a concentrated core. The acidity is mouthwatering and a very fine phenolic texture provides the palate with a near-austere line and completes the balance. The wine finishes with lingering sweet honeysuckle flavours. A dry and finely firm, mouthwatering Riesling with some toasty complexity. Match with grilled or fried seafood over the next 4-5+ years. 17.5+/20 Mar 2012 RRP $22.95
