Kina Cliffs Nelson Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 27-Aug-2016
Bright, light straw-yellow colour, a little lighter on the edge. This has a firm, well-concentrated and packed nose with white and yellow stonefruit aromas, along with flinty lees and savoury nutty notes lending complexing detail and interest. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, the palate possesses good depth and intensity of savoury white and yellow stonefruits entwined with minerally and nutty lees elements. The wine has a rounded mouthfeel with good concentration and line, with soft, underlying acidity lending some drive. The flavours are carried to a long finish with complex, savoury fruit and nutty nuances. This is a well-concentrated, dryish Pinot Gris with savoury stonefruit and complexing lees interest. Serve with most white meat dishes over the next 3+ years. Hand-picked fruit, WBP, and cool-fermented in tank, with 10% finished off in neutral oak at warmer temperatures, to 14.0% alc. and 7.4 g/L RS, the wine aged 5 months on lees with batonnage. 17.0+/20 Aug 2016 RRP $25.00
