Kina Cliffs Nelson Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 16-Sep-2014
Full, even straw-yellow colour with light golden hues. The bouquet is full with softly concentrated and complex, interwoven aromas with an array of savoury yellow stonefruits, nuts and honey showing barrel-fermentation and lees elements. Medium-dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the flavours of stonefruits and nuts are well-integrated and expressed with restraint. Nuances of honey and soft acidity contribute to the richness, and the palate features a good core with underlying alcoholic power and drive. The wine carries through to a moderately long, savoury, nutty finish. This is a soft, weighty, savoury medium-dry Pinot Gris with some power, in an Alsace style. Serve with most white meat dishes and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3+ years. Fruit hand-picked, WBP and cool-fermented in tank with 15% in seasoned oak to 13.5% alc. and 14 g/L RS, the wine aged 5 months on lees with batonnage. 17.5-/20 Sep 2014 RRP $25.00
