83% clone 15 and 17% Mendoza clone fruit, WBP and fully barrel-fermented, partially by indigenous yeasts to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 7 months in French oak, the wine undergoing batonnage and MLF. Brilliant straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, lighter on rim. The nose is powerful and packed with intense aromas of rich and vibrantly ripe citrus fruit and white stonefruits complexed by barrel-ferment nutty and mealy layers. The bouquet reveals subtle flint and minerally lees notes with aeration. Medium-full bodied, tightly bound and concentrated flavours of ripe citrus fruits and stonefruits form a penetrating and deep palate line. The fruit extract lends presence and fine, dry textures and the mouthfeel has great drive, supported by the bright, lively, refreshing acidity. Delicate complexing nutty oak and flinty reduction adds detail and interest, and the flavours lead to a very long, lingering finish with mealy, citrussy elements. This is a concentrated and intense Chardonnay with citrussy fruit and nutty detail, and a fresh, firm mouthfeel. Serve with seafood and poultry over the next 5+ years. 18.5+/20 Jun 2014 RRP $36.00
