Kidnapper Cliffs Hawke’s Bay Pinotage 2010

Pinotage from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 21-Nov-2011
Bright, youthful purple-hued ruby-red colour, full and even, the bouquet is gently perfumed and lifted with red berry aromatics, reminiscent of savoury raspberries, along with fresh herbs and complexing game. Medium-bodied, flavours of bright raspberry jam, tamarillos and earthy herbs are underscored by fine-grained, firm tannins. The wine has focus, the acidity quite discreet. A seriously constructed wine with firm tannins, but showing the Pinot Noir heritage of the Pinotage variety with its sweet and savoury red fruit. Match with Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 5-7+ years. Fruit from 18 y.o. vines in ‘Zone 4', given a cold soak and fermented with whole berries to 13.5% alc., maceration by foot treading, the wine aged in 25% new 300 L oak barrels. 18.0-/20 Nov 2011 RRP $45.00
