Kidnapper Cliffs Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2010

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 21-Nov-2011
Bright straw-yellow colour, pale on rim. This has a very tight, shy and delicate nose slowly revealing citrus and white stonefruit aromas along with nuances of nutty oak and flint. The nose exudes finesse. Medium-bodied, the flavours are restrained, with subtle and intricate citrus fruit, grilled nuts and steely mineral notes all interwoven with lovely harmony. The palate possesses a firm core that drives the line, but the mouthfeel is very smooth texturally. Gentle acidity carries the fruit to a dry, oak-spiced finish that is long and lingering. Mendoza clone fruit from ‘Zone 7', WBP, fully barrel-fermented to 12.5% alc., the wine aged in 20% new oak for 10 months, with no MLF. A subtle and refined wine with beauty that will become richer over the next 5-6+ years. Match with seafood, poultry and pork dishes. 19.0-/20 Nov 2011 RRP $45.00
