Kevern Walker ‘Brooke’ Hawke’s Bay Cabernet Franc 2009

Cabernet Franc from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 16-Mar-2011
The flagship wine for Kevern Walker. A blend of 90% Cabernet Franc with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented to 14.0% alc., then aged 12 months in seasoned American and French oak barrels, and 10% new American oak. Very dark, deep, ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, this has a full, soft nose packed with sweetly ripe raspberry and dark berry fruit aromas with floral perfumes, backed by intense, spicy oak. This is a rich, full and plump wine, rounded and juicy in the mouth, with plenty of raspberry and boysenberry fruit flavours. Floral nuances intermingle with liquorice and oak spiciness. While there is good extraction, the tannins are quite supple. This is a crowd-pleaser that will match hearty red meat dishes over the next 4-6+ years. 300 cases made. 17.5/20 Mar 2011 RRP $20.00
