Kerpen Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett Trocken 2009

Riesling from Germany
Review Date : 09-May-2011
Wehlen's ‘Sundial' is of the great vineyards of the Mosel, soils with pure blue-slate. Light straw-lemon yellow in colour with youthfully pale green hues, this has a very delicate, tight, minerally nose showing apple notes and a little SO2 which breathes off in the glass. Dry on palate, this is clean and crisp with soft apple, stonefruit and mineral-like flavours lifted with delicate floral nuances. The palate is backed by fine acidity which provides a good line. A little acid sourness and sulphide bitterness shows at this stage, but this will integrate as the wine develops interest and nuance over the next 4-5 years. 12.0% alc. Drink as an aperitif or with shellfish. 16.5/20 May 2011 RRP $19.35
