Kerner Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 16-May-2014
Brilliant, even straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues. The bouquet is firmly packed with harmoniously integrated aromas of nectarines, greengages and green stonefruits, lifted with spice notes and nuances of smoke. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the flavours of spicy green stonefruits are concentrated and form a deep, rounded core. The mouthfeel has vitality and freshness from lacy acidity, and the palate follows a smooth, very finely textured line. Barrel-fermentation provides some roundness, and the oaking very integrated and unobtrusive. The flavours carry through to a very long, stonefruity finish. This is a fresh and finely balanced Sauvignon Blanc with nectarine and stonefruit flavours and subtle barrel influence. Match with seafood and herb-marinated poultry dishes over the next 2-3 years. Hand-picked fruit, WBP and partially indigenous yeast fermented in French oak barriques to 12.9% alc. and 3.3 g/L RS, the wine aged 4 months on lees. 420 cases made. 18.0/20 May 2014 RRP $25.99
