Bright, even, light golden-yellow colour with some depth, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is full, solid and rounded with very good depth of ripe yellow stonefruits, citrus fruits and tropical fruits, along with a layering of savoury nutty oak and creamy barrel-ferment notes providing complexity, unfolding buttery elements. Full-bodied, the palate has rich, sweetly ripe flavours of melons, peaches and tropical fruits harmoniously complexed by creamy barrel-ferment, butty oak and buttery elements. The mouthfeel is fulsome and opulently rich, the fruit sweetness balanced by fine, crisp acidity. The wine flows smoothly to a plush, lingering finish with subtle, dry textures. This is a plush, rich and sweetly-fruited traditionally-styled Chardonnay with ripe tropical fruit flavours harmoniously melded with creamy and nutty oak and buttery flavours. Match with roast pork over the next 4 years. 100% Chardonnay, 56% from Monterey, 27% Santa Barabara, 15% Mendocino and 2% Sonoma Counties, WBP, fully barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 7 months in 45% French and 55% American oak with batonnage. 18.5+/20 Apr 2017 RRP $35.00
