Kendall-Jackson ‘Jackson Estate’ ‘Outland Ridge’ Anderson Valley Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from USA
Review Date : 14-Jan-2015
Clones 828, 667, 5, 777 and 117 from the ‘Outland Ridge’ vineyard, Anderson Valley,in Mendocino, fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 59% French oak, 30% new. Dark, deep ruby-red colour with a lighter rim, youthful in appearance. This has a full, solid and dense bouquet packed with ripe black berry and plum fruit aromas infused with earth, spice and oak elements that open out in the glass. Some funky mineral and game nuances emerge, adding to the complexity. Full-bodied, the palate is packed with firm and concentrated black fruits and earthy flavours with an array of complex dark herb, mineral and oak notes. This is beginning to show some secondary meaty development. The wine is firmly textured with prominent structure, with the acidity in the background lending energy and contributing to the drive to the finish. This is a fulsome, solid and gutsy Pinot Noir with black fruits and earthy flavours. Match with slow-cooked game meat over the next 7-9 years. 18.0-/20 Nov 2014 RRP $65.00
