Kendall-Jackson ‘Jackson Estate’ ‘Camelot Highlands’ Santa Maria Chardonnay 2012

Chardonnay from USA
Review Date : 14-Jan-2015
Full, even, light golden-hued yellow colour. The bouquet is softly full with a complex and sophisticated amalgam of white and yellow stonefruits melded with creamy, nutty barrel-ferment characters and toasty, charry oak detail. This builds in depth and interest in the glass. Medium-full bodied, the palate is well-proportioned with stylishly presented flavours of citrus fruits, stonefruits and nuts forming a concentrated core. This has good underlying power and energy, and the palate follows a fine-textured line with ripe acidity adding tension and freshness. Mealy, biscuitty and toasty oak nuances emerge and carry through to a long, sustained and nuanced finish. This is a stylish, but sophisticated and powerful Chardonnay that will develop over the next 5+ years. Serve with most white meat dishes. Clone 4 fruit from 40+ y.o. vines from the ‘Camelot Highlands’ vineyard, Santa Maria in Santa Barabara, barrel-fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 8 months on lees in 97% French oak, 50% new. 18.5+/20 Nov 2014 RRP $55.00
