Kendall-Jackson ‘Grand Reserve’ Monterey/Santa Barbara Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from USA
Review Date : 24-Jan-2017
Bright, light golden-yellow colour with some depth, pale on rim. The nose is elegant in presentation with tightly bound aromas of piquant white and yellow stonefruits lifted by yellow floral elements and nutty oak, and complexed by minerally lees detail. Full-bodied, the palate is refined and firmly bound with concentrated and intense, vibrant flavours of peaches, nectarines and citrus fruits. The fruit is entwined with subtle nutty oak and minerally lees elements lending complexity. The wine follows a fine-featured and textured line with underlying lacy acidity, and alcoholic power, carrying to a sustained finish with finesse and interwoven nuance. This is an elegantly proportioned, refined Chardonnay with fresh stonefruit and citrus flavours, nutty oak and lees complexities, and underlying power. Match with poultry, pork and veal dishes over the next 5+ years. 53% Monterey County and 47% Santa Barbara County fruit fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 8 months in 79% French oak, with 29% new, and the remainder in American oak, undergoing batonnage. 18.5/20 Jan 2017 RRP $45.00
