Ken Forrester ‘Renegade’ Western Cape 2006

Blended Red from South Africa
Review Date : 07-Aug-2013
The 10th vintage, a blend of 51% Shiraz and 49% Grenache Western Cape fruit, fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in seasoned French oak with 5% new American oak barrels. Deep, dark red colour with garnet hues. This has a soft, voluminous bouquet with integrated aromas of soft red berry fruits and savoury spices, revealing secondary game nuances. Medium-full bodied, soft and savoury red berry fruits are the feature on palate. The fruit is showing some bottle development with earth and games notes harmoniously interwoven. Rounded in mouthfeel, the palate has light grainy tannins underlining the fruit, with some acidity present, adding a lusciousness and liveliness. The tannins become more prominent and dry on finish. This is drinking well now and over the next 3-4 years. 17.0+/20 Aug 2013 RRP $36.00
