Clones 115, 114, 10/5, 777 and Abel from the Wairarapa, fermented to 13.5% alc., and a portion aged in French oak barriques. Ruby-garnet red in colour with garnet hues on edge. This has a soft, full nose of warm red berry fruits along with mushroom and savoury meaty notes, well integrated. A medium-weighted wine, this has restrained flavours of savoury red berry fruits with mushroom and dried herb flavours, along with forest-floor elements. The extraction is modest and provides a soft backbone to the wine. Mellow and harmonious, this is a very rounded and approachable wine to serve with pasta and poultry dishes and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3-4 years. 16.0+/20 Jun 2011 RRP $20.00
