Karikari Estate ‘Toa Iti’ Karikari Peninsula 2006

Cabernet Sauvignon from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 16-Feb-2011
‘Toa Iti' means ‘Little Warrior' this wine the junior sibling to the flagship ‘Toa' wine. 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc, 7% Malbec, the remaining 3% made up of Syrah and Pinotage. Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with some garnet on edge, this is intense, but elegant on bouquet, with dark berry fruit aromatics, spicy oak, floral perfumes and volatile lift. On palate the fruit is dominated by the chunky extraction which dries the palate. Berryish fruit, with some cedar, spice and oak emerge with air time. Match with most red meat dishes and hard cheeses over the next 4-6 years. 12.4% alc. 16.5/20 Feb 2011 RRP $25.00
