Karikari Estate Karikari Peninsula Viogner/Chardonnay 2009

Blended White from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 16-Feb-2011
A blend of 60% Viognier and 40% Chardonnay fermented in old French oak to 13.1% alc., the wine undergoing batonnage. Brilliant pale straw-yellow with lemon-green hues, this shows minerally, flinty Chardonnay characteristics on the bouquet along with lees and reductive elements. Dry on palate with Chablis-like flintiness to the flavour, the mouthfeel has an attractive oily texture leading to a vinous, richer finish. Nuances of stonefruit and spice, from the Viognier appear on the aftertaste. A wine to match firm flesh fish over the next 2-4 years. 15.5+/20 RRP $40.00
