Karikari Estate Karikari Peninsula Pinotage 2007

Pinotage from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 16-Feb-2011
Dark hearted ruby-red colour with some garnet hues, this has a fine, tightly bound nose of smoky red meats, cedar, spices and fruit cake from secondary development. Slight volatility and acetate lift also show on bouquet, a trait of the Pinotage variety. A medium-full bodied wine at 13.9% alc., the tight nature lends an elegance and finesse. Complex savoury, game, tobacco and cedar flavours show with a juicy sweetness. The tannin extraction is moderate and underscores the fruit, fresh acidity adding to the liveliness. A stylish wine to serve with Asian and Mediterranean cuisine over the next 5-7 years. 100% Pinotage from Karikari Estate. 17.5+/20 Feb 2011 RRP $35.00
