Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 30-Jan-2014
Dark, deep ruby-red colour with black hues, garnet edged. This has an elegant ant tightly bound nose of dark raspberry and cherry fruit seamlessly infused with layers of spice and minerals along with some resinous oak. The bouquet is refined and has a deep core. Medium-bodied, tightly concentrated flavours of dark raspberries, liquorice and dark herbs are the feature on the palate. Fine-grained tannin extract lends a dry, textural backbone and line with soft, acidity adding freshness and vitality. Some nutty, resiny oak and minerally elements provide detail and interest and the flavours carry through to a long, grainy finish with raspberry fruit nuances. This is a finely concentrated raspberry fruited and minerally Pinot Noir with fine, but significant structure, Match with poultry, pork and lamb dishes over the next 5-6 years. Central Otago fruit from various sites, indigenous yeast fermented to 13.8% alc., the wine spending up to 3 months on skins and aged in barrel. 18.0/20 Jan 2014 RRP $36.00
